Insulated Attic Hatch Cover Quick Seal

Installation of Quick-Seal
Remove Quick-SealTM from the packaging. Carefully center the Quick-Seal cover over the attic opening and hold in place with one hand. Using the four guide holes near the corners of the cover, drill a 3/16" hole approximately 1 inch deep into the ceiling NOTE: The guide holes and anchors are sized for a 3/16" drill bit. Failure to use the proper drill bit size may result in an unsatisfactory installation. (Use eye protection when drilling holes in the ceiling.)

After holes are drilled, remove the cover from the ceiling. Remove the knockout holes in the corners of the cover by twisting the plastic knockout back and forth until it falls out.

Assembly of Quick-Seal
Prior to installation, apply the foam gasket material to the back side of the product. Place the cover on the flat surface with the foam insulation facing up. Apply the foam gasket material by removing the release liner and exposing the pressure-sensitive adhesive. Starting in the middle of any side, press the adhesive to the flat area of the cover directly next to the foam insulation.  NOTE: DO NOT cover up  the knockout holes with the gasket material. Carefully round the four corners and trim to the proper length when completed. (Hint: Do not stretch gasket material or remove too much release liner at one time.)

Install Anchors
Using a hammer, gently tap the anchors in place until flush with the ceiling.

Install Turn Fasteners
Screw the turn fasteners by hand into the anchor until tight and aligned with the holes on the cover. NOTE: If necessary, use a pliers to gently tighten the turn fasteners but do not continue turning once the fastener face plate is flush with the anchor.

how to reduce your energy bills / energy conservation begins at home imagine leaving a window open all winter long -- the heat loss, cold drafts and wasted energy! if your home has a folding attic stair, a whole house fan or ac return, a fireplace or a clothes dryer, that may be just what is occurring in your home every day. these often overlooked sources of energy loss and air leakage can cause heat and ac to pour out and the outside air to rush in -- costing you higher energy bills. but what can you do about the four largest “holes” in your home -- the folding attic stair, the whole house fan or ac return, the fireplace, and the clothes dryer? mark d. tyrol is a professional engineer specializing in cause and origin of construction defects. he developed several residential energy conservation products including an attic stair cover and an attic access door. battic door is the us distributor of the fireplace plug.
